Hi  Vishnu.

you should be able to add the system manually using context menu of BW modeler( add new connection or define connection).

Please have BW system id, instance number handy.

in case still not working, update you Hana studio with latest version.

Regards,

Suresh.

Hi Vishnuvardhan,

I am using BW Modeling Tools add-on in Eclipse Luna.

I am getting Options -

1. Select connection from SAP Logon

Select Connection from Logon will display all the systems which are added in SAP GUI Logon screen.

2. Define Manually.

We can configure with BW System using Host ID, Instance.

Can you please try with latest BW Modeling Tools add-ons with Eclipse.

Hi,

If you are still facing the issue,

You can break the formulas as below, and try in last formula, i know no point in elaborating the formulas but some times it works..

Create Int conversion seperate,

Create String conversion seperate. and Create leftstr seperate formulas, and in final try your desired requirement formula you can consider the (fiscalmonth -1...

I have faced such issue in SP 1.8, but the above way breaking the formula worked for me...

Dont know exact reasons behind it...

Hope it helps.

Cheers..

Hello Suresh,

Isn't there any log for the installation tool?

Are you lookking at DB logs only?

Can you attach index server traces?

Hi Experts,

We have ECC on HANA in our environment. For the Table VBPA , For particular Document(VBELN) the data on ECC does not Match with Data on Studio.

It happens on with Particular Column PARVW. Does any one faced this kind of issue.

Please note:

Client is Same,System is on ECC(No replication Needed),Issue is with only particular column not with any other columns, Schema mapping is also correctly configured.

Thanks in advance,

Srikanth

Hello Yuksel AKCINAR,

Thanks for the quick response.

Installation logs doesn't get updated when the load hangs.

We are referring to DB logs as well but could not find the resolution.

Attached are the indexserver, name server & xsengine traces when the DB crashed.

What we understood is the unix process "defunct" is kind of zombiee process, to which we are not able to kill through os commands, not even user kill able to terminate it. Only OS restart is the fix.

We are not able to find root cause why indexserver process at OS level is becoming "defunct".

Once we were successful in installing the S4HANA 1511 but consequent OS reboot has again created indexserver defunct process & crashed the Database.

Suresh Kadali

Hi Srikanth,

For the Partner functions in SAP, usually data display on ECC screens will be different from saved in tables. but as i see your tables in ECC & HANA studio are saving different values. seems in HANA studio tables it is showing as Ship to Party(SP) , Bill to Party (BP), Payer (PY), sold to Party. Kindly check in /SYS/BIC schema for the same table which you are using in HANA (VBPA).

Thanks,

Kishor.

Difference between ABC::CalcView and _SYS_BIC.ABC/CalcView

Built a graphical CalcView in studio, activated it. (ABC is my package name)

Then went to the reporting tools (ex: Tableau) and tried to connect to the above mentioned CalcView.

Picked schema _SYS_BIC and then searched for the CalcView that I activated.

Saw two results:

1)_SYS_BIC.ABC/CalcView

2) ABC::CalcView

I know we should pick the 1st one (the one with _SYS_BIC) as all the activated column views (in fact all activated objects) reside here in _SYS_BIC schema.

but what I am curious about is the second result ..the one with :: in it (double colons)

What is it? Where is this coming from? Is this the design version of the view?

Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Hello Srinivas,

"ABC:CalcView" is the public synonym generated for your calculation view defined in the repository. It points to the catalog object ("_SYS_BIC"."ABC/CalcView").

You can check it in the Catalog View on DB level. Search for the public synonym in the "Public Synonyms" folder and open the synonym. The properties show you the target.

S4HANA 1511 installation..Problem in HAN DB import.(Defunct process)

Hello Experts,

We have a strange problem in 1511 installation.

During the DB import phase, the import halts without any reason. It will not update the error logs as well.

Up on checking, we find that the CPU utilization for all the R3load processes will become zero.

Further checks shows that, the indexserver becomes like this;

hd1adm   21900 14230 19 04:44 ?        00:12:15 [hdbindexserver] <defunct>

It will not let us use that DB instance even after OS reboot. We need to install new DB instance each time it fails.

System Environment :

OS         - SUSE Linux 11 SP2.

HDB      - HANA 1.0 SP11.

SAP      - S4HANA 1511.

Memory - 512GB

All the mount points have sufficient free space as well.

Hi Shubham,

Thank you for the document. But my question is, do we require data provisioning when ECC is migrated to HANA?

Any document which explains "how to use ECC data after migrated to HANA" would be helpful.

Thanks,

Sahana

The XML definition for calculation views are not open for development outside SAP.

As a SAP developer you have access to internal JAM communities, documentation and core SAP HANA development teams.

I recommend to reach out internally instead of posting here in a public forum,

Hello Nitsch,

Your observations seems valid as well.

Based on the SAP note : 1888072 recommendations we have updated below glibc rpm. But no luck.

We will check with unix admin for validating the other recommendations in SAP note 1824819.

Our SAP HANA Database version is  -> '1.00.110.00.1447753075'

SUSE Linux glibc version  ->  glibc-2.11.3-17.74.13

Thanks for the details you provided.

SLT and SQL Server

Hi,

I am using SQL Server as the source DB and HANA as the target. However, when I try to configure a trigger I get this error:

DDIC activation failed for one of the structures listed below (Table /1CADMC/S0000211):

Message no. DMCLG397

Diagnosis

While creating a conversion object, the system could not generate a related DDIC structure.

System Response

The conversion object was not created.

Procedure

Repeat the procedure. As a rule, these generation errors are caused by a temporary problem in the Data Dictionary that should no longer exist when you try the next time.
If this does not help, find out which of the structures listed in the following messages is not activated (transaction SE11). Try to activate the relevant structure in transaction SE11, and take note of any error messages that are output. A possible reason for this error is a missing namespace definition (field name starts with /<namespace>/...). In this case, a namespace definition for <namespace> must be created in transaction SE03 (see SAP Note 150451).

It manages to create the table but the tables show up empty in HANA Studio. How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance!

If not already done, have a look at SAP note 2001528 as well.

This might be relevant as well.

QTD from CURRENT_DATE

Hello

I am trying to derive QTD from CURRENT_DATE. But the result is coming as "2016-Q2'

I just need '2'.

Eg of the Code: select QUARTER(current_date) from DUMMY

I am using below code to get the Quarter from M_TIME_DIMENSION. I extended this Table with YTD, MTD, QTD, QTD, CY, PY.

"QTD" = case when Quarter(current_date) >= "DATE_SAP"

then 'Y'

else 'N'

end.

I am referring to Justin's Blog

How To...Calculate YTD-MTD-anyTD using Date Dimensions

would appreciate any insight.

Thanks
