Hi Vandana,

There are a lot of resources in help.sap.com that help you find out the answers to your questions and umpteen number of posts and blogs in scn.sap.com that answer your question. This is just a brief response to your question and is not the complete answer and would suggest you to refer to help.sap.com for extensive knowledge.

SAP HANA - HANA also called High Performance Analytical Appliance (this full form is not used anymore). Its an Appliance because it comes with both Hardware and Software. Typically a database that stores data in-memory with a column based datastore. This is just a tip of the iceberg and you have great resources in help.sap.com and scn.sap.com

Native HANA - Harnessing the native capabilities of HANA such as its Modeler to build different Modeling objects or building applications would fall under Native HANA.

HANA Enterprise - HANA itself can be called HANA Enterprise (not used much), at this moment it is common to use the term Enterprise with HANA Enterprise Cloud which is one of the cloud offerings of SAP HANA

HANA Versions and SP - SP11 was released recently, and as far as which version is being used in companies that's a very broad question. Some might be even using SP 7 and and SP 8, it depends on when the implementation was done and what features they wanted to implement and whether they chose to upgrade or not

Read through the materials in help.sap.com and there are a lot of videos in the youtube channel SAP HANA Academy

Hello Mani,

Do you set environment variable TNS_ADMIN for AP user <sid>adm. (if not, set it in user profile and restart the application server) ?

Make sure the connection information is maintained correctly in DBCO as well.

Re: Same Tables in Different Schemas

Hi Narindar,

If your HANA system is Suite on HANA System,

Please check the schema SAP<SID>.

(For Example, If your ECC SID is SE1, Schema name would be SAPSE1)

Under this schema, All the ECC Tables would be there like KNA1, MARA.

If you find KNA1 Tables in Other schema as well, The reasons would be

1. These tables would be replicated from Other ECC Systems to HANA

    using Data Provisioning Tools SLT/BODS.

2. Some Other Colleagues might create KNA1 tables for testing purpose using SQL Queries

Create column Table Schema1.KNA1 like  SAPSE1.KNA1 with data.

Best Regards,

Muthu

Thanks Dear for your response. But my doubt is, it is happening because i am practising on a test server, i don't think in real environment scenario should be like this? If it is the case, it is wastage of storage space by keeping multiple instances of same object and it is not be good for reporting purpose as well, as even two different programmers are using the same table, they might be getting different results, based on the table synchronization schedules. Kindly correct if i am wrong.

Hello Jozsef,

Thanks for that. I could finally reproduce the issue on a revision 102.04 system.

However, on SP11 revision 110 that's not reproducible anymore.

As this deserves further verification from our side, could you please open an SAP support ticket ?

Please send me the ticket number *in private*.

Thanks and Regards,

SDI Hello, when calling the Procedure from SQL Console from HANA Studio in SPS11 I get the following error:

Could not execute 'CALL "SVEN"."SVEN::RealTime_ECC_SVEN_SP"' in 265 ms 184 µs .

SAP DBTech JDBC: [256]: sql processing error: "SVEN"."SVEN::RealTime_ECC_SVEN_SP": line 6 col 1 (at pos 181): [256] (range 3) sql processing error exception: sql processing error: QUEUE: SVEN::RealTime_ECC_SVEN_RS: Failed to add subscription for remote subscription SVEN::RealTime_ECC_SVEN_RS.Error: exception 151050: CDC add subscription failed: RepAgent is not started.

I found a few SDN discussions but not the answer. Please advise. Many thanks!

Also to add, the vidio SPS09 is not mentioning the "Writer Type" insert for COLUMN without which Error is generated activating Flowgraph Model.

column store error: task framework:  [140004] scenario -> DATA_2 - No primary keys were found in target table "SVEN"."REALTIME_KNA1". If no primary keys exist in the target table the writer type must be set to 'insert'.

OData Service and Tables

Hi experts!

I´m new in the HANA world and I'm beginning to build an app that consumes OData services, to do so I'm doing the Service following this Step by Step:

How to create a new OData service using the Web-Based Workbench

I created 2 tables, Employee and Department and now I want to do a relationship between those 2, how can I do this?

And second, for what I can see this service is only visible by me, how can I make it public to an app to consume?

Hope you guys can give me a hand,

Best regards

Jose

Hi Sven, Without looking at the logs its little difficult to pin point the cause. Can you please do the following

1. Check of the source data base, HANA version, DPAgent version, JDBC client etc are supported as per SDI PAM https://support.sap.com/content/dam/library/ssp/infopages/pam-essentials/TIP/PAM_HANA_SDI_1_0.pdf

2. Follow instructions in EIM Admin Guide Section 6.12 (assuming you are using SAP ECC) or similar instructions for other Adapters

3. Check if the time zone file configuration is done if required. Details in Admin Guide.

4. Check ports used are unique. Make sure to keep plus and minus one port free for every port used in creating remote source

5. If the above are OK, then try to reset the remote subscription you created. Alter remote subscription "" reset

6. Go to DPAgent install directory /usr/sap/dataprovagent/LogReader/ and see if the folder with "instance name" is deleted. If not then delete it.

7. Log in as configured replication user in the source data base and execute the applicable clean up script avaialable in /usr/sap/dataprovagent/LogReader/scripts

8. Do a QUEUE and DISTRIBUTE of remote subscription from HANA studio

Alter remote subscription "<remote subscription name>" QUEUE

Alter remote subscription "<remote subscriptioin name>" DISTRIBUTE

If this does not resolve your problem, please open up an incident with SAP (internal incident if SAP internal, BCP for external customer incident). Once your problem is resolved, we can share the solution in this forum to benefit of others.

Thanks Hitesh

Table aging vs. dynamic tiering

$

Hi all,

Please advise is Aging, time selection partitioning ( http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm700_ehp03/helpdata/en/53/06a0995655488785175d57bef083da/content.htm?current_toc=/en/8b/0c8038f0df41ecae0d8efcf1eac592/plain.htm&show_children=true ) in HANA compatible with Dynamic Tiering ( http://help.sap.com/saphelp_hana_options_dt_mas/helpdata/en/01/38ab1f826449f88f38e2dc5788823e/content.htm ).

And if yes, can they be made consistent more or less automatically? For example, data which is not old in aging should not end up on tier ES server and vice versa. Perhaps I don't clearly understands reasons to have two so similar solutions.

Thanks.

Hi Pavan,

Yes. Report should show up the values for remaining DEPT_IDs. However, it is NOT behaving as I am thinking.

Defined Input parameter will "not" always prompts for an entry from the user. If you define an Input Parameter Derived From Table. It does NOT ask for the input. However, it selects first row from the table and returns the value of desired column. This works fine in my case and it does excludes department 40 and show up the results.

Still waiting for the answer.

Replicating ERP Users to HANA Live (HEC) for Fiori

$

Hi All,

I'm looking at how to replicate ERP users to a HANA Live instance so that users can single sign-on and be given appropriate permissions to odata services and the like.  I've looked at the AAA mentioned in this post HANA LIVE SECURITY SETUP but because we're using HANA Live for oData and other non-analytical privileges requirements also; then this is not a complete solution (may still be a part of the puzzle).

From all my searching, I can't see anything that comes out of the box to do this, and all I can think of is to sync user and roles from ERP and write an xsjs script that I schedule to run nightly which maps this to users and privileges appropriately.

Note - An added complexity is that our HANA Live is in HEC so not all features and authorisations may be available for this.

Does anyone know of an ongoing solution to manage provisioning of users (without Identity Management and including removing privileges and users) to do this; or alternatively have a SQLScript/XSJSscript to do this that they can share?

Thanks,

Matt

Hello Shirish,

I have tried to replicate the scenario with the following data set .Over here not in filter for multiple values when applied through INPUT Parameter defined as  COLUMN is working fine in SAP HANA Studio  Version: 2.0.15 .I think its similar to the scenario mentioned above.

The control table over here is CONTROL_TEST1 and the driving table is MASTER_TEST1.

Applied filter for in the control table for 40 and 30 .When performing data preview we are getting data set devoid of 40 and 30 from the driving table.

Refer the screenshots for further information.

Trouble with XS Advanced Runtime Installation

Hi, I'm currently trying to install XS Advanced to do some research. So I downloaded the full HANA installation file(version 1.00.110.00.1447753075.) from SAP Market Place. But I am facing an issue that prevents me from installing.

Here is the error screenshot.

2016-02-17_100627.png

So I checked the error log and found out that it cannot connect to jdbc port 30115 (my HANA instance is 01).

2016-02-17_101023.png

I have checked that my port is open and I can successfully connect to my HANA using JDBC in my Eclipse.

Either disabling or enabling proxy doesn't work.

Has anyone happened to meet this problem before. Could anyone help me with it?

Thanks.

Chasing documentation for Smart data access

$

Hey all,

currently trying to use HANA smart data access connecting to an Oracle Database and wanting documentation on what effect settings in the ini have

enable_remote_cache

enable_remote_source_capability

remote_cache_validity

semi_join_execution_strategies

semi_join_max_in_elements

semi_join_max_temp_table_cardinality

virtual_table_default_cardinality

virtual_table_format

virtual_table_threshold

a few like caching are obvious, others like semi_join_execution_strategies are less obvious with possible values and effects.

Any help would be welcome
