Hello,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
The error in DB13 is the same:
SQL Message: Connection failed (RTE:[89006] System call 'send' failed, rc=32:Broken pipe)
The user that runs the Job, is an ABAP Dialog User. It is not blocked, in fact we are working with it to perform BC tasks. Also not roles or chages are registered for this user since november. The current error started 2 days ago.

Hi all,
I wanted to ask you a question about VDS (Virtual Distributed Switches) functionality on VMware vSphere for HANA.
Which are the impact to keep this option disabled in a virtual DEV/QAS SAP HANA environment hosted on VMware vSphere 5.5?
Because of there are different official guidelines documents that suggest to enable such functionality as best practice, are there some official references that allow you to keep it disabled without significant impacts?
Thank you in advance.

Hi, I am a new in HANA. recently one user account was locked for many times. Is there a way to catch when and which application the user try to use in the HANA database? Many thanks.
Dear Sir,
This is a quite difficult question for a forum, since you need to evaluate several factors that depend on your system landscape. Basically, the core issue is that your ERP is the central point of your business, so upgrading your ERP to HANA, which mean going to ERP EHP 7 may have an side-effect on your satellite systems like PI, CRM, BI.
So, integration / side effects are the main issue here. You really need to understand how this update will affect the other satellites system, maybe you will need to update one satellite system before your ERP, else you need to update your ERP and another satellite system at one step.
On the other hand, going to the cloud need a deep review of all your SSO / Network connections, since changes in host id will affect all your PSE definitions, certificates, SSO scenarios, not to mention the non SAP Legacy systems that integrate to your satellite SAP systems.

Hello,
Please go to the "Auditing Activity in SAP HANA Systems" from your SAP HANA Administration Guide (for HANA SP).

Dear Sir,
Please refer to the following:
https://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/SAP_HANA_on_vmware_vSphere_best_practices_guide.pdf
"Virtual Distributed Switch (vDS) SAP HANA uses Virtual Distributed Switches. Prior to vSphere 4.0, virtual infrastructure administrators configured standard switches on each host. vDS enables virtual machine networking that spans multiple vSphere hosts to be managed as a single virtual switch from a centralized VMware vCenter Server through vSphere Client.
When a vSphere host is added, the networking for that host does not require configuration. Instead, the host is added to a defined port group that is dedicated to SAP HANA traffic or other application-specific traffic. In addition to supporting Private VLANs (PVLANs), vDS can also be used to shape both inbound and outbound network traffic. VMware Standard Switches can be easily migrated to vDS in a non-disruptive manner with the vCenter Server management user interface."
Even if you don't go to scale up yor Dev / QA HANA system (at least not now), What is forcing you to turn off this new feature?

Erick Ilarraza
Hi,
I downloaded the script HANA_Configuration_MiniChecks_Rev100+.txt from the OSS note 1969700. Can somebody tell me how to execute that script in a HANA database? And what modifications we need to do in the script before running it?
Thanks,
Arindam
Hello
Im trying to generate HANA Views on BW infocubes using 'Generate HANA Views' option in the infocubes. I was able to generate the view on infocube and I could preview the data in Studio. When I;m trying to access the HANA view in reporting tools, Authorization issue has been raised.
I went ahead and checked consistency of the HANA view using RS2HANA_CHECK tcode. I'm getting below error messages.
error 1:
--------------
InfoProvider &&&&: Filter string does not exist
Message no. RS2HANA_CHECK014
Diagnosis
No entry exists in table RS2HANA_AUTH_STR for the mentioned InfoProvider
and BW user. When accessing the generated SAP HANA View the database
user is not authorized.
Procedure
Make sure no other errors are displayed, otherwise correct the errors.
Then trigger the SAP HANA Model Authorization Replication again by
either activating the mentioned InfoProvider or running report
RS2HANA_AUTH_RUN.
error 2:
------------
User SAP<SID>: Select on View failed
Message no. RS2HANA_CHECK055
Diagnosis
Running an example SELECT statement on the specified SAP HANA View
failed for the mentioned user and specified database connection.
If check "Existence and Assignment of SAP HANA Privilege(s)" is enabled,
warning message RS2HANA_CHECK077 "Privilege on OLAP view is missing"
should be displayed, too. If so, follow the instructions mentioned in
the long text of message RS2HANA_CHECK077.
Procedure
Make sure all prerequisites are met in order for the BW user to be able
to access the generated SAP HANA View. In addition make sure no errors
are displayed for the mentioned user, otherwise correct the issues and
try again.
Also make sure that you selected to check "Existence and Assigment of
SAP HANA Privilege(s)" and look for warning message RS2HANA_CHECK077
"Privilege on OLAP view is missing".
--------------
I checked table RS2HANA_AUTH_RUN and I could see a record for my user id generated.
We didnt get any RS2HANA_CHECK077 "Privilege on OLAP view is missing" message.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
John.
Hi Arindam,
The version of the script mentioned above is compatible with all HANA systems higher than SPS10
Just copy the script from the .txt file open a new SQL CONSOLE for the desired HANA system and paste the contents
Execute the script and you should see the results in a few seconds(may take couple of minutes as well)
Hope it helps
Sunil
Hi Erick,
thank you for your reply. I've already read such best practices documentation but a license limitation forces me to keep this featured turned off. So, before to plan a license upgrade, I would like to know which impact I can face if I keep standard switches instead of virtual distributed ones.
Thanks again.

Thanks to Deepak and Shiromani, Its clear now.
Hi All,
I am doing a work out on Union operator. When using Union in calculation view by default it will work as union with constant values. but same is not possible in Scripted view.
For Eg: Table1
Table2
Below is the output of calculation view which i used union node:
Output:
Same output i get using below query in scripted view
SELECT REGION_ID,PRODUCT_ID,SUM(SALES_AMOUNT),SUM(DISCOUNT) FROM(
SELECT REGION_ID,PRODUCT_ID,SALES_AMOUNT,0 AS DISCOUNT FROM "NEO_B45RWNY007IMPIDRM4ZSG1OV0"."SALES"
UNION ALL
SELECT * from "NEO_B45RWNY007IMPIDRM4ZSG1OV0"."SALES1") GROUP BY REGION_ID,PRODUCT_ID;
Is there any other syntax like union with constant values in sql hana
Thanks,

This is because there are some missing libraries in your system.
1) Install required libraries as per the document attached to the SAP Note: 2009879
2) Follow some extra configuration steps as in SAP Note: 2136965
Please close this thread if this answers your question. thanks
