HANA on AWS quick deployment fails on WaitForHANAInstall

HI,

Have anyone recently deployed a HANA instance into an existing VPC using the SAP HANA Quick Start Reference Deployment guide?

It gets stuck for 60min on the following steps then rolls back due to the timeout. I even extended the timeout to 120min and then it still timeouts:

22:26:15 UTC+0200 CREATE_IN_PROGRESS AWS::CloudFormation::WaitCondition WaitForHANAInstall Resource  creation Initiated

Any pointers? The installation software was downloaded and uncompressed onto the D:\ drive of a Windows host. I tested the consistency of the media for both SP8 and SP9 by attaching the volume on a freestanding host and the files are there and accessible.

It just seems like the actual install never start.
