Patrick - thanks for the input. To make things simpler, I am taking the Studio out of the discussion - I am only speaking of my observations in Excel and Lumira, so limited to front end tools.
The test user has no package privileges at all, but still can SEE all views in al packages in the entire system. This is a SPS5 Rev 48 system.
Example
Roles - PUBLIC
SQL Privileges - Execute and SELECT on _SYS_BIC, _SYS_BI, Execute on REPOSITORY_REST Analytic Privileges - analytic privelege on View #1
System - None
Packages - None
When I log in as this user with Excel or Lumira, I am seeing, for example, all 15 views that exist in the system. If I added a specific package privilege, it makes no difference, so it seems that has no effect on a reporting user.
When it comes time to acquire the data or execute the view, I get an error if I select a view that the user has no analytic privilege for.
So what I am wondering, is this going to be the same expected behavior in the 'Manage Spaces' function for Explorer, or maybe even from Analysis (OLAP and Office) for that matter? Seems like it would be better to limit the scope in terms of the total views a user can see when accessing from these client tools.
Thanks,
Justin
