Re: how to start SAP Hana db?

Hi Satish,

First try this.

Right click on your HANA instance in Navigator panel and choose Restart.  If does not work then try below.

We can create ODBC driver (I am not sure of JDBC driver) from the control panel but it is worth to give a try.

Go to Control Panel -> Administrators Tools -> Data Sources (ODBC) - System DSN -> Add -> HDBODBC and provide Data Source Name.

Server:Port value is server_name:3xx15 where xx is the Instance number.

Raj

Another update here.

After some communication with Thomas Jung in this thread,

http://scn.sap.com/thread/3371514

The appearance of Content folder is just as simple as setting up Customize View in HANA System/Navigator. Quoting Thomas,

In the SAP HANA Systems view/Navigator, click the triangle in the upper right corner. Choose Customize View. On the Content tab, select the Content folder.  Then you will see the Content folder in your hierarchy.

So far my HANA Developer system on AWS is running well with below combination,

Client Rev 48 - Studio Rev 48 -> connected to HANA Developer Rev 56

hi raj,

i tried with the first option: restarting, it prompts me with username and password.Entered the username and password in the popup.

Following is the error:

[HDB hanasp5.vm.cld.sr 00 (SYSTEM)] Error on restarting system

[SOAP-ENV:Server] Invalid Credentials

but i am entering the right username and password. Any have i am mentioning my system details.

installed Hana client & studio in my desktop and trying to connect the studio with the cloud link that i was provided after successfully creating my account.

i am able to get the details of HANA studio as mentioned in this blog

http://rbranger.wordpress.com/2013/04/06/using-hana-on-cloudshare-part-1-setup-connectivity/

and tried to create odbc connections as you mentioned.

Can ODP use a standalone TREX?

$

Hi all

This is a rather simple question. When going through the customising activities for Operational Data Provisioning, the help talks about a connection to "TREX/BWA". But when reading some notes, like the Note 1731842 - Information about the extractor 0HR_PA_EC_15, it is not a TREX/BWA connection that is mentioned, but just a TREX connection.

The question is thus: Can ODP performance be enhanced using a standalone TREX? Or is it only by using SAP HANA as platform or connection to a BWA that performance can be enhanced. And ODP to standalone TREX installation does not make any sense.

The question is very much about licensing. A TREX license is one thing, and most companies have it. A BWA license is quite expensive, and most companies does not have it.

Best regards,

Martin

I have fixed the issue with the SAP Host Agent. But this time, I am struck with the new issue:

'There is no hostname <hanadb> bound to computersystem <localhost>

Either check your computersystem or your model'

The below are the entries that I have in the /etc/hosts file:

127.0.0.1     localhost (this was changed to nil after adding the ip using the Hostnames serive from YaST. But I have changed to localhost)

fe00::0     nil

ff00::0     nil

ff02::1     nil

ff02::2     nil

ff02::3     nil

<my ip>     <fqdn>     hanadb

This is how, my hostnames look like:

Host Configuration.png

Here, the localhost name for 127.0.0.1 is not visible. Please help me what's happening here. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Balajii

Hi,

You can just commented out the localhost in /etc/hosts

#127.0.0.1     localhost

retry and see how it goes.

Also, please use fqdn for the hostname entry specified in your template.

Deleting indexserver?

$

Hi,

We have the option of adding multiple indexserver to a single node HANA system. This is helpful in Backup and Recovery for N:1 System copy. However, if I want to delete an indexserver from target after successful system copy is there a mechanism available? There should not be any data loss involved :-)

Hi Rahul,

Please check

Copying SAP HANA From a Multiple- to a Single-Host

it may help you.

Hi Atul,

Thanks for the note. I am aware of this, however it does not solve my question "if I want to delete an indexserver from target after successful system copy is there a mechanism available".

Thanks for the speedy reply nevertheless.

Hi Rahul,

You can delete the indexserver via HDBADMIN.sh -> Configuration -> Topology -> host -> Host ID -> Delete Node

I have commented the localhost in both hosts and hosts.YaST2save files.

I have also modified the FQDN(hanadb.ides.com) in the template setuphana.slmodel. But still I'm getting the same error, but with the FQDN now. Please help me:

'There is no hostname <hanadb.ides.com> bound to computersystem <localhost>

Either check your computersystem or your model'

Thanks,

Hi Satya,

The single link for all the HANA documents is here.

Better start with SAP HANA Developer Guide which is under section "Development Information", followed by SLT guide (here is the link) and then you can go through link mentioned by Vivek.

Error when Exporting on Hana cluster when connecting to secondary

We are running into an error when trying to run the export sql command while connected to a secondary host. In this case hana108 is the primary and hana109 is the secondary and the directory we are exporting to is shared between hosts:

hdbsql=> \c -i 00 -n hana108:30015;hana109:30015;hana110:30015 -u CC41 -p ********

Connected to A01@hana108:30015

hdbsql A01=> export "CC41"."*" AS CSV INTO '/usr/sap/A01/HDB00/work' WITH REPLACE THREADS 4

0 rows affected (4956.225 msec)

hdbsql A01=> \di

Connection closed

hdbsql=> \c -i 00 -n hana109:30015;hana108:30015;hana110:30015 -u CC41 -p ********

Connected to A01@hana108:30015

hdbsql A01=> export "CC41"."*" AS CSV INTO '/usr/sap/A01/HDB00/work' WITH REPLACE THREADS 4

* 8: invalid argument: No objects to export found in given schema(s) SQLSTATE: HY000

We also see this error when issuing the command in JDBC when specifying all host names in the connect string.

Re: Deleting indexserver?

Hi Rahul,

Of cos you need to ensure a successful backup before you proceed to

i) Redistribute all tables from the indexserver you want to delete to available indexserver

ii) Ensure no table stores before your deletion.

Hope it helps,

Cheers,

Nicholas Chang

Hi Sai,

Please check the SAP Note No. 611361 and verify your hostname according to note.

Please ensure your given input present at file system and accessable

like "/log"/ , /data"/ , /sapmnt" , hanadb.ides.com"
